About Greg Niven
Greg is originally from St. Louis, MO and completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Evansville. During his time at Evansville, he played for the Men’s D1 soccer program as a goalkeeper and earned a Bachelors degree in Exercise Science. His participation in a high level sport allowed him to experience and understand the athlete’s mindset of return to play rehabilitation after an injury on the field. Subsequently, Greg went on to earn his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Washington University in St. Louis, where he graduated in 2022.
In 2024, Greg completed MTI Physical Therapy’s Sports Residency Program and became a Board Certified Sports Clinical Specialist. His training and dedication has given him the opportunity to be a clinical mentor for the current sports resident cohort. Greg is also the Sports Residency Field Mentor Director and provides medical coverage for many local, semi-professional and professional sports teams around Seattle. Currently, he is pursuing additional post-graduate training by participating in the Ola Grimsby Institute Manual Therapy Fellowship Program so that he can become a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy (AAOMPT).
One of the best things Greg loves about Physical Therapy is talking with and getting to know each and every one of his patients, as everyone has a different story and history. Greg’s treatment approach includes a systematic analysis of each patient’s precise movement patterns to not only treat the initial symptoms, but to also determine how the symptoms became apparent in the first place. Greg believes this style, coupled with advanced manual therapy techniques of soft tissue and joint mobilization, helps his patients to return to their prior function and activities in a pain free manner. It also leaves them equipped with the knowledge of their own movement patterns, which can help prevent future injuries. While Greg enjoys treating patients of all activity levels and physical abilities, he is especially interested in Sports Rehabilitation and Strength & Conditioning. His goal is to help bridge the gap between on-field sports performance and physical rehabilitation.
In his free time, Greg enjoys playing all types of sports (especially soccer,) lifting weights, hiking, camping and finding the best food and drinks in the city.
