Professional Staff

Entry-Level Manual Therapy Resident Staff Position

We encourage new graduates who are interested in a one-year full-time Residency program to apply at any time during the year. We hire when you’re ready, and hold your spot in the next available residency, which begins in February each year.

MTI Physical Therapy offers two residency options. The first is a Sports residency through our own MTI Sports Residency Program. Alternatively, we work in conjunction with the Ola Grimsby Institute (OGI) to facilitate a full-time clinical orthopedic manual therapy residency experience, where you attend OGI for classes, and mentor on-the-job at MTI while employed with us.

Residency programs include 1:1 clinical supervision and mentoring, competitive resident salary, employer-paid tuition, 401K, as well as APTA and AAOMPT dues. Develop your skills with a 4-day work-week and the MTI-pioneered one patient per 45-minute visit model.
If you are a new grad who wishes to attend a residency program, but you want to take a break now and do it in the future, consider applying and discussing the option to come on board at MTI as an entry level PT, but keep your spot for the Sports Residency in the following year.
Please contact our Human Resources Department for more information about these positions. To apply, please fill out our application form below.

Manual Therapy Staff Position (Experienced)

If you’ve completed a residency or are interested in moving ahead in your career with an organization that values your education and experience, consider applying at MTI! We have a unique pay structure that allows you to earn based on the revenue you bring in. We also have a very generous 401K, Medical plan choices, and pay APTA and AAOMPT dues. LEARN ABOUT OUR AMAZING PERKS

our employees love working at mti

HEAR FROM OUR TEAM

“I’ve been a part of MTI for over 10 years now, primarily in an admin/front office capacity. I have loved getting to work side-by-side with very incredible physical therapists over the years. By observing their dedication to patient care, I have so much respect for this profession and a deepened understanding of the importance physical therapy plays in one’s recovery process. Seeing their passion always motivated me to come in ready to help and make a difference in their patient’s day. Although my role has changed and I am more behind the scenes, I enjoy contributing to making MTI an amazing place to work.”

– Jackie Gibson, Admin Manager

“Woven into the fabric of MTI is a consistent pursuit of clinician development (amongst others) and this is embedded into the MTI Sports Physical Therapy Residency Program. I wanted to know the “WHY” when thinking critically and clinically, and not just have a set of techniques to perform hoping they would work. I believe the MTI Sports Residency helped me understand the “WHY” better than I could have wanted when I first thought about residency! If a clinician has the desire to develop within the realm of sports and orthopedic physical therapy, MTI is a great place to continue their journey!”

– Jimmy Higginson, PT, DPT / Physical Therapist & MTI Sports Residency Graduate – First Hill Clinic

“Prior to completing my Sports Residency program at MTI Physical Therapy I didn’t have confidence in my clinical decision making, manual therapy interventions and exercise selection. MTI’s Sports Residency program gave me a very strong theoretical framework for manual therapy and exercise selection, which allowed me to get to the right interventions faster for easier patients and to adjust as needed for more complex patients. Additionally, mentoring sessions are one-on-one for a full hour 2-3 times per week, which provides ample in-person opportunities to get real-time feedback on concepts and techniques covered during class. Now that I have graduated, I am a much more confident and efficient therapist.”

– Kyle Buckham, PT, DPT, FAAOMPT

“I have been at MTI for nearly 20 years. It’s been a great environment for me to not only grow as a clinician & form lasting relationships with patients, but also to be a part of a supportive family that’s always looking to learn & grow.”

– Matt Hatscher, PT, MPT, MOMT / Physical Therapist & Steering Member – Bellevue Clinic

“I got into Physical Therapy to help people. Working at MTI gives me the best chance to help people – they allow us time to work with patients and get best results; they encourage us to go above and beyond with our own education and skill development in ways that help our patient base (and ourselves). And it’s fun to come to work! I get to work with awesome people!”

– Matt Wood, PT, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT, B. / Osteopathy Physical Therapist – First Hill Clinic

“You won’t find a better work environment than MTI. For one thing, there is an overall sense of care at MTI. Not just from owners and management but from everyone in the office. In terms of professional growth, you have PTs who are just starting out in their first year of sports/manual therapy residencies, PTs who have taught classes all over the world and everyone in between. In terms of clinic feel, I think that you get a lot of the positives you might find in self-employment, including overall autonomy and schedule management, but still have the support that you would expect in working at a bigger clinic.”

– Michael Okada, PT, DPT, OMT, FAAOMPT / Physical Therapist – Bellevue Clinic

“PT school gave me a solid foundation of skills but I knew I wanted more; more information, more hands on work, more learning. As soon as I stepped foot into MTI, I knew the environment was made for learning as demonstrated by the consistent mentorship and discussions of every therapist. Going through the sports residency program, I was able to understand the “why” to every part of evaluation and treatment which substantially improved my critical thinking and hands on skills. This information, mixed with substantial opportunities of acute on field sport management, has shaped me into a therapist who strives to continue learning and mentoring other health professionals, patients and athletes.”

– Greg Niven, PT, DPT, SCS, CSCS

“I Love working at MTI Physical Therapy because I have a full hour to work with patients, which allows me the time I need to make an accurate diagnosis and treat effectively.”

– Sarah Olson, PT, MSPT

MTI is proud to offer residency training, teaching & mentorships

In 2020, MTI established its own Sports Residency program with accreditation through the American Board of Physical Therapy Residency and Fellowship Education (ABPTRFE), the recognized accrediting body of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). Students utilize Mentorship on-the-job at MTI, as well as on the field at various sports venues. This program provides an exploration of the physical therapy needs of athletes ranging from those at the Professional level to weekend warriors.

MTI works in partnership with The Ola Grimsby Institute (OGI), an international post-graduate educational consortium, to provide a clinical training center for the education and mentoring of post-graduate physical therapists to advance their clinical skills in orthopedic manual therapy (OMT). This includes a full-time orthopedic residency program and manual therapy fellowship program

With over 150 graduates and counting, MTI is proud to say we have trained the largest number of Residents and Fellows than any company in Washington state!

Teaching and mentoring:

The current MTI staff is continually involved with teaching local programs and courses, as well as seminars and conferences nationally and in over 15 countries worldwide. Staff development includes sponsoring educational seminars, blood flow restriction training through Owens Recovery Science, and courses in emergency medicine for athletes. By hiring motivated physical therapists and providing them with the best post-graduate training, MTI has created the optimal clinical environment for patient care.

Mentoring and Clinical Mastery:

Our practice style continues to evolve through the latest research evidence, coursework, and our clinical mentoring of other physical therapists. As you work with your personal physical therapist, you will recognize the difference between MTI’s approach and your practitioner’s clinical skill and knowledge. We know that your experience with MTI will be unique and allow you to meet your individual goals.
