About Tom Murray
Tom is a manual therapist and movement teacher with a passion for the outdoors. His hands-on approach to healing is rooted in his training with Rolfing legend Tom Myers. He’s blended this unique skillset with the more traditional but effective techniques of physical therapy, allowing him to approach treatment from multiple angles, tailored to the individual.
Tom has also been lucky enough to train with movement experts like UFC veteran Masakazu Imanari, freediving record holder Michael Board and the one and only Ido Portal. At Chapman University, he had the opportunity to be a guest lecturer on ‘Fascia, Rolfing, and the Anatomy Trains’ in April 2024. Then in November 2024, he partnered with Erika Bloom’s Wellness Collective to lead his first bodywork and breath-work retreat. These unique experiences in movement and wellness infuse Tom’s approach to physical therapy, allowing him to work well with outdoor athletes and people who value a more holistic approach to healing.
Tom has enjoyed incredible experiences surfing, trekking, and fly fishing in beautiful landscapes across the globe. These experiences are what drive him to help people live and feel optimally. Along the way he has endured many injuries from surfing and BJJ including concussions, an ACL sprain, and many back injuries. For Tom, skilled hands on physical therapy has been a life saver, allowing him to get back to what he loves. It’s no wonder he chose to work at MTI Physical Therapy, after his mentor, Dr. Brent Harper, recommended MTI because he feels that their PTs are some of the best manual therapists on the west coast. He hopes his unique approach can help you to enjoy movement, life, and the outdoors to the fullest.
