About Karyn Schultz
Karyn Schultz graduated with a B.A. in Biology from Carroll College in Helena, Montana in 2009 and a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska in 2013. After graduation, Karyn began working with MTI Physical Therapy where she honed her orthopedic and manual therapy skills through the Ola Grimsby Institute (OGI) residency and fellowship programs. Over the next six years, she spent time living in Montana and other parts of Washington where her clinical practice began to gravitate away from traditional orthopedic physical therapy and more toward pelvic health and the treatment of the whole person.
Her own experience with pregnancy and raising a newborn during the first year of the pandemic has deepened her empathy for the many complexities and challenges that parents may face. As a clinician, she is highly attuned to the immense emotional, mental, and physical stressors that can impact a person as they navigate their way through the pregnancy and postpartum periods.
Karyn has a firm belief that as a pelvic health physical therapist the body needs to be assessed as a whole, not just from within the confines of the pelvis; you will rarely find her giving Kegels as homework! She believes in the importance of being attentive to a patient’s unique pelvic health and fitness goals, while respecting whatever barriers or trauma the patient brings to each session without shame or guilt.
She has a special interest in treating all aspects of pelvic health dysfunction in the prenatal, postpartum, and perimenopausal body. Karyn also treats men or those with male genitalia, who are experiencing pelvic pain as well as sexual health, urinary and bowel movement dysfunction.
Outside of the clinic, she spends her time keeping up with two toddlers, trying to exercise, learning Pacific Northwest gardening, and finding herself again outside of parenthood.
